There are certain things that can affect your PSA levels, so you should avoid certain activities before testing:
- Wait at least six weeks after a urinary tract infection, or prostate or urinary tract surgery.
- Wait at least 2 weeks after a colonoscopy
- Wait at least a week after any sexual prostate stimulation.
- Wait at least 48 hours after vigorous exercise, especially cycling or spinning, and sex or ejaculation.
This will help reduce the chances of raised PSA levels that could be misinterpreted as a prostate issue.
